Ammonite Resources was formed in 1982 to provide professional advisory services for the geotechnical and economic evaluation and financing of petroleum and mineral resource investments world wide. The firm specializes in the evaluation of the geological, geophysical, engineering and management characteristics of petroleum and mineral projects. Ammonite's unique strength as technical consultants is our ability to also assess the economic and commercial aspects of direct mineral investments and ventures, and to recommend and execute strategies designed to maximize the economic return for our clients.
The more than twenty Senior Consultants of Ammonite Resources have broad industry experience in the technology, operation, finance and law of the petroleum and mineral industries in nearly every region of the world. Many of our consultants were senior geoscientists, executives and managers in multinational petroleum companies, and have been elected officers of regional and national professional societies. We have significant expertise in the following geographic areas: onshore and offshore USA Gulf Coast, including the Deep Water Gulf; West Texas; Rocky Mountains; Appalachians; Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin; Alaska; Atlantic Coast of Canada; North Sea; Offshore West Africa; Atlantic Coast of Latin America, with particular expertise in Trinidad; North Africa and the Middle East; Central Asia; and Southeast Asia. Ammonite has consultants who are fluent in Spanish, French, and Arabic as well as English.
Ammonite Resources provides sophisticated geotechnical, economic and financial analysis at both the project and company level. Our geotechnical services range from: due diligence for financial investors; geological and geophysical interpretation of data sets; providing multi-disciplinary teams to operating oil and gas companies for the evaluation of a new venture, acquisition or divestiture; and providing senior geoscientists on a contract basis for work in a client’s office. Ammonite does not prepare reserve reports, but frequently audits reserve reports on behalf of our clients.
The firm has considerable expertise in the management
of oil and gas exploration and production operations; the preparation of
business plans; economic modeling; contract negotiations; and competitive
intelligence. We provide our clients with management consulting services in
these critical business areas.
Ammonite Resources has a very active expert witness practice. The firm works closely with legal counsel in investigating the geotechnical, contract and marketing issues in a dispute, and then develops and recommends strategies to support our clients’ legal claims. We have provided expert witness testimony at hearings and at trial on numerous occasions. Ammonite’s clients have included the US Internal Revenue Service and the US Justice Department. Ammonite has also served as an expert in several major securities litigation matters.
Ammonite also evaluates new exploration and alternate
energy technologies, and conducts market research studies.
Our expertise extends from upstream exploration and production, to
downstream crude oil and petroleum products refining and marketing.

If Ammonite does not already have a specialist under contract, through our broad technical and financial industry contacts, we are able to quickly find experienced consultants who have a vital skill for a particular client engagement.
Ammonite Resources specializes in working with the corporate and institutional "non-operating" petroleum and mineral resource investor which does not have the in-house technical ability, or personnel capacity, to fully evaluate and manage its investments in natural resources. We assist these investors by evaluating, managing and representing their interests in joint venture activities at both the technical and commercial/economic levels. Our clients have included petroleum companies, oil service companies, utility and manufacturing companies with mineral interests, institutional and individual investors, banks, law firms, independent power developers, drilling and producing property income funds, and agencies of the United States and foreign governments.
